The calendar has flipped to March, which means it's time for new Android security patches. The March update resolves 16 issues in the 2018-03-01 patch and 21 in the 2018-03-05 patch. OTA images and factory images are available now for the Pixel 2 XL, Pixel 2, Pixel XL, Pixel, Pixel C, Nexus 6P, and Nexus 5X.
All of the issues this month were labeled as "critical" or "high." The most critical issues in this month's bulletin related to the media framework and the possibility of a remote attacker using a "specially crafted file" to execute arbitrary code. Google says there were no reports of users being affected by these issues.
Google also has a dedicated bulletin for Pixel and Nexus devices. They list 43 security fixes ranging from Moderate to High. The bulletin also includes 3 functional updates for the Pixel 2 XL and Pixel 2. Google improved screen wake performance with the fingerprint scanner, audio while recording video, and crash reporting.
Find the OTA images and factory images for your device in the links below. The OTA update should be rolling out now for Pixel and supported Nexus devices. You can check your phone's security patch level by going to Settings > System > About phone.
