Huewie rma third party purchase
Sorry if this has been asked on here before, but I'm having some problems with my nexus 6p. The finger print scanner seems is not functioning. After a reboot the option under settings now completely disappeared. I purchased the device through Third party. Can I just rma it through huawei? I know with my previous device (nexus 6) I was able to rma is no questions asked even though I was not the original owner. Thanks in advance!

So the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 is quad core. Why did Qualcomm decide to go with a quad core one over a octacore or hexacore? How would that affect the GS7/GS7 Edge if it were octacore or hexacore? How much of a difference is there between the Exynos and 820?

S7/7 edge Korean versions root?
I've not had a Samsung device since the galaxy s2. That was a international version from the UK.
However I'm now living in Korea and I'm thinking about getting a S7 edge here, on contract or just store brought.
I think that the Korean versions are more locked up than some of the other versions from different countries (U.S).
What's the likelihood of root and TWRP landing on the Korean versions?
I'm looking to replace my G3.

Screen glue visible?
I have the S6 Edge and I want to know if the S7 Edge suffers from the same issue.
If I look at the screen (with any app that has a white background e.g. Settings) I can see patches all over it. Not scratches, but patches. Kind of like an orange peel effect. It's not a serious problem but just a little annoying. I also have the regular S6 and it has no such issues. In fact I prefer the regular screen in terms of quality.
But if you have the S7 Edge, please let me know if you have this issue.

EFS curruption, IMEI/Baseband unknown
Hey Guys,
my phone is stock, unrooted, and unlocked. one day it decided it didn't want to remember the IMEI any more. since its not unlocked I did not have an EFS backup. I tried unlocking and factory flashing with no luck so I decided to use a EFS back up from a friends 6p and try and see if that restores mine.
it worked! my phone now reads my sim card, has the right imei, and baseband!

[Review] Mpow Magneto Bluetooth Headset
Mpow Magneto Bluetooth Headset Review
I was sent a free review sample of this bluetooth headset to review, below are my impressions, for those looking to pick up a nice and pretty unique headset.
UNBOXING, INITIAL IMPRESSIONS
The Magneto comes in a nice and slim box, the entire front of the box doubles as a flap that is held closed by a magnet. Swinging it open reveals the Magneto very tightly nestled inside of a velvet covered plastic holder that has been precision cut to fit the headset. Removing that reveals the included accessories, which are:
MicroUSB Cable
Small and Large Sized Eartips (Medium sized tips are already pre-mounted on the headset)
Small, Medium, and Large Rubber Ear Stabilizers
Manual Card
I was disappointed to see a lack of a carrying pouch or case of some sort among the accessories. Moreso because the Magneto headset itself is stunningly finished, with a very nice circular polished metal finish on its front face. I would hate to see it get scratched, so I do wish a carrying pouch had been included.
The headset itself is surprisingly large, much more so than I anticipated initially. It's also rather heavy, which isn't necessarily the best "feature" for an earphone to have. However as I discovered later, this wasn't really an issue.
The control pod is nicely made, with a full rubber coating, and 3 very clicky buttons.
CHARGING, BLUETOOTH PAIRING
The right earpiece contains a small rubber flap on top of the earpiece, which you flip open to reveal a microUSB port. The Magneto already comes pre-charged, however, it's still a good idea to top it off. A full charge takes 2 hours, which gives a playback time of 8 hours, and 175 hours of standby time.
To pair the headset, simply turn on bluetooth on your device, and hold down the central button on the Magneto's control pod. You'll hear a "Power On" prompt...continue to hold down the central button, and do not let it go. After 7 seconds, you'll hear another prompt say "Pairing", and a light will begin blinking orange, after which, you should see "Mpow Magneto" show up on your device. I didn't need a password, however if you do need to enter one, simply enter "0000". I found pairing to be effortless and very easy. The bluetooth spec is bluetooth 4.1.
Note that you can pair the Magneto with up to two devices. To pair a second device, make sure your first device's bluetooth is turned off, and then follow the pairing instructions again for the 2nd device. I was able to pair a 2nd device no problem.
PHYSICAL COMFORT
As mentioned, the Magneto is a rather bulky earphone, and there's no getting around the fact that it will stick out quite a bit in your ears. However, thanks to the inclusion of the rubber stabilizers, the Magneto's weight surprisingly disappeared, once in the ears. The 3 included tip sizes are all very nice and soft, and I had no issues using the Magneto for over an hour or longer. You can also wear the Magneto with the wire dangling below your chin, or behind your neck, to get the wire out of the way.
OPERATION
Once you've connected your device, to play music, press the central button on the control pod to play or pause the music. Next song is activated by long pressing the '-' button, and previous song is activated by long pressing the '+' button. Volume up and down involves short pressing the '=' and '-' buttons. There are no operations that allow you to fast forward or reverse through a song, you can only skip songs.
For phone calls, simply press the central button on the control pod to answer a call, and press the central button again to end the call. You can also hold down the central button as a call comes in, until you hear a "toot toot" prompt, to reject a call. Voice dialing is possible by holding down the central button and the '+' button simultaneously. Lastly, holding down the '+' and '-' button simultaneously will mute the microphone during a call.
The Magneto also has another very cool feature, from which it draws its name. The earpieces both have magnets embedded within them, and if you simply stick them together, your music will automatically pause (or your call will automatically end). Pulling the earpieces apart will play music again, or allow you to automatically answer an incoming call. My only concern with this feature is possibly scratching the nice metal finishing on the housings.
SOUND QUALITY
And here we have the most important part of any earphone: audio quality. I do consider myself an audio enthusiast, and this was my first time ever trying a bluetooth earphone, mostly because I've always assumed they just simply didn't sound as good as wired earphones.
At first listen, I was surprised at how clear the midrange to treble sounded. The treble didn't sound harsh or bright at all, and the midrange was smooth. As one might expect however with fairly inexpensive, sealed tip earphones, the bass can become rather overpowering at times. Strangely enough, I found this to be somewhat source material and volume related, rather than simply a permanent aspect of the Magneto. At lower volume levels, and when listening to more acoustic, instrumental material, the bass came across as defined and tight, without too much bloat. It was mostly midbass oriented however, and the bass doesn't get very deep. If I played tracks with more exciting basslines however, the bass could quickly get very boomy and overpowering, especially if the volume is turned up.
I also found that the Magneto tended to do instrumental music better than vocals, as vocals had a strangely laid back property, as if the singer were singing from a great distance from everything else. A bit jarring at first, but something that I got used to the more I listened to the Magneto.
CONCLUSION
I found the Magneto to be a very nicely made bluetooth headset, and was surprised by how good it sounded for a bluetooth earphone. Especially cool was its magnetic play/pause feature that has been built into the earpieces. At low to medium volumes, it has a very balanced sound, but the bass can get a bit overwhelming if you crank up the volume.

Downgrade to NCE
I have a Galaxy S5 (G900A), rooted on Lollipop 5.0 (0F3) using prerooted firmwares to upgrade from rooted kitkat. My bootloader version is still OA1. I want to downgrade now to kitkat so i can use safestrap. I was wondering if i could downgrade using the G900A_Downgrade_to_NCE.tar mentioned here and here, since i still have to OA1 bootloader, to downgrade without bricking my phone.

SM-T800 Password locked & in Retail Mode. Am I hosed?
So... I bought a Galaxy Tab S 10.5 on ebay. The guy who was selling it said it works fine but it's password locked and he didn't know how to remove it so he was selling it "AS IS FOR PARTS" I thought that shouldn't be hard to fix. Factory Reset and we should be good to go...
However, I'm pretty sure this was a store demo unit and in addition to being password locked its also in Retail mode... Because of the Retail mode I can't get into factory reset screen. I can get into Oden mode but when I try factory reset it gives me a black screen. Can I get rid of the password protection by flashing the firmware in Oden? Once I get into the tablet I think I know how to disable retail mode but I can't get past the log in screen. I didn't want to start messing around with it if its a hopeless cause but if there is a way around this mess I would really appreciate someone pointing me in the right direction. Thank you in advance!

Bricked C720P
I've been duel booting chrx Lubuntu with Chrome OS on my C720P for quite some time now. I go back and forth depending on my needs. Last night, as I was surfing facebook on Chrome OS, the chromebook switched off. When I booted it back up, it threw me into the "Chrome OS is missing or damaged. Please insert a recovery USB stick or SD card." I've tried multiple USB sticks, including a newly purchased one from PNY. All of them result in the chromebook verifying the media okay, but the immediately after, it pops up with "An unexpected error has occured." Hitting tab brings up the recovery reason as "0x5b No bootable kernel found on disk." The keyboard shortcut to boot into legacy (ctrl+l) also does not work. I tried unplugging both the battery and the SDD and plugged them back in - no avail. Does anyone know if getting another SDD would resolve the issue?

S6 - Boot Loop - No Recovery - HELP!!!
Hi All,
I a strange thing happened yesterday. My S6 got stuck and when I did a force restart it ended up in a boot loop. To worsen the problem my device had reactivation enabled. I found out that my recovery is not loading also. I guess its due to the reactivation security.
So far I have tried the following:
1. Tried to install the stock firmware
2. Tried to install new stock firmware (marshmellow)
3. Tried Kies and Smart Connect (did not do anything)
I'm pretty much clueless at this point. Any help is appreciated.

Possibly hard bricked Moto xt1060 Vzn
I Just attempted a root on my xt1060 vzn moto x and i think i hard bricked it. I was supposed to update the Qhsusb_dload drivers on my windows 7 yet i didn't find them. At this point my device was turned off an i had no way of getting it back on, no fastboot or anything. The green led light will light up when its plugged in and i hold the power button for a while. When i plug the usb and phone into the pc it will briefly show up as Qhsusb_driver in the device manager then switch to Relink HS USB QDloader 900. If there is any hope for my device and someone could share it that would be greatly appreciated. If someone could post a solution you are a lifesaver.

So recently a customer of mine asked if it would be possible to put android stock software from lets say a note 5 or edge on a clone iPhone. As far as I understand these clone iPhone's run a similar android system but with a apple launcher. Would it be possible to root this and put a different stock software on one of these clones? Default Black - Custom Unlocked Boot Logo - Image Set
So this is exactly like my "BioActive" Boot Logo (same extra features)
Only difference is this one has the default stock Motorola Logo converted to a black background.
What i did was replace the warning message about the Bootloader being unlocked with this new Logo.
As well as the standard "Locked" Boot Logo..
So.. this means whether your phone is locked or unlocked you will see the preview Logo picture below.
This also has my improved button / Caption image set integrated and the charging screens modded black too..
These Boot logo's i have made are high quality !
I have verified the colors are proper and checked for errors etc..
I had found about 4 errors on the stock Moro Boot logo i corrected.
The other thing i wanted to do is make sure the performance is good so i minimized the file size as much as possible.
One way i did this was to make sure all Exported PNG images i used were "Flattened"
Another thing i did was make sure that 100% of the images all had a consistent DPI.. 96 (something Moto was sloppy about)
This applies to my other Logo too (this one just has 2 Logo's changed otherwise they are the same)

How to restore my G900W8 back to original factory software. Major issues inside....
I was running CM13 for a while with no issues but I decided today to go back to stock because I want flip cover/s-view functionality without using garbage 3rd party apps to halfway do this.
Anyway....I tried to flash the stock ROM using Odin but it just made me stuck at a boot loop where it would play the Samsung animation about half way, freeze then restart and do this over and over again..
I installed TWRP and did a full wipe of everything, and now tried to install stock firmware using Odin again, and it writes everything to the phone in download mode then gets to the point where the device resets but then when it turns back on it just sits at the boot screen saying "recovery booting...." and locks up from there. If I even plug the phone in to charge it will freeze on the battery with the lightning bolt image and not proceed to the charging animation as it normally would and I need to pop the battery out to hard reset it out of this..
When I try to flash the stock firmware (G900W8VLU1COI4_G900W8OYA1COI4_G900W8VLU1COI4_HOME .tar) Odin says this:
Please help....I don't know what I am missing. Is there a step I have missed somewhere along the way? Everything I read simply tells me to install the stock firmware using Odin to fix this, but that is actually what caused this issue in the first place and I cannot find any other info anywhere.
EDIT: I just reinstalled CM13 and it is working fine....what have I done to make it so that my phone cannot run the stock firmware anymore???

Ntelos LG G3 on a Verizon network w/o root
Hey guys, first post. Anyways, I don't know if this is a glitch, but I had a Straight Talk Samsung Galaxy Core Prime, and I have an old G3 that has a bad esn. I took the sim out of the Galaxy, popped it in the G3 and tweaked a few settings in the "Secret Menu" then called *228 and got it programmed. It worked. Don't know if this was supposed to actually happen or what, but it works and it's actually awesome. Just ask if you wanna know the settings I changed.

phone wont turn on - please help me reset before returning to verizon
Today my power button was acting weird. It worked fine during a long press to do a "restart" but wouldn't turn on or off the phone, so I had to use my Knock code all day. I lost power this evening and now it wont turn on at all.
Phone is charging fine but nothing I can do will turn it on. Removed and replaced the battery, charged the phone. Long hold with vol down button pressed to try to do factory reset and nothing. screen looks normal when the battery is charging, but it wont turn on. Nothing happens when I plug it into a computer either.
I really don't want to return this to Verizon without doing factory reset first. Please help me.

S-Pen Jumps/spikes when drawing near center of screen
Hello
I've noticed that when drawing/writing in S-Note the line I draw jumps or skips about an 8th of an inch up and then goes back down. It happens near the center of my screen while in portrait mode. I simulated this by drawing some not so straight lines in S-note and I boxed in blue where the skipping happens. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this issue?

Remote App not finding my FTV2
The Remote App cannot find my AFTV2 running the latest 5.0.5 SW from my phone or tablet.
It only worked for a few hours when I first set up the AFTV. But, it would ask to pair each time I opened it, which seemed odd. Now, it cannot even find the AFTV, from either of the devices on which it is installed.
On the phone and tablet I've cleared the app data, uninstalled, and re-installed the app.
On the AFTV2, I've restarted numerous times, both from the menu and power cord reboots.
Finally, I've even tried a factory reset, which didn't work. It was a pain to re-install all the apps and activate them with the providers, as well.
Has anybody else had this issue? If so, were you able to resolve it? I'm thinking of ordering a replacement AFTV, as sometimes the hard remote stops working, and I need to remove and re-insert the batteries to get it working again. Annoying stuff.

Help with brick?
Hi I was running the Cyanogen Mod Nightly for my phone, and hadn't updated it for about a week. When I went in to my settings to update it, I downloaded the latest one and when it was done it prompted me to start it, so I did. It got to about 2%, and after that it's been looping in boot. The screen flashes on and off instantly every 5 seconds. Power + Volume Up works, it shows the HTC screen and says it's going into recovery, but then it just loops in boot again.
Is there any fix/hope for my phone? :(

As a user of the Moto X Pure, one of my favorite features is the lockscreen. You can unlock the screen using the motion sensor with the Active Display feature. They also do a great job of displaying your notifications in a way that gives you maximum information at a glance. I've wanted to bring the features of this lockscreen to my other Android devices and I think I've finally found a good solution for that.
AcDisplay is a lockscreen app that's a decent replacement if you're looking to step up your notification game. You'll also have the "Active Mode" which is the same as the Active Display feature from the Moto X. Since the app uses very little CPU power this isn't going to be a battery hog, which was my main concern about an app like this.

Any ROM freezes after startup
I have access to fastboot and flash modes, I can lock and unlock bootloader through flashtool, I can do anything... but no matter what i try, SO always crash after "starting apps" or something like this. I've tried differents versions of Cyanogenmod, differents versions of stock ROMs... no success. I've tried it in flashtools, PC Companion and Emma with same results. When SO tries to start and show me the homescreen, it freezes. I dunno what else to do.

Is TouchWiz as bad as they say?
Quick backstory: My phone history is HTC Thunderbolt, HTC Droid DNA, HTC One M8 and the Nexus 6 (since the M9 didn't show me anything good enough). I've stayed away from Galaxy phones since I heard that the OS on top of Stock was laggy and overall not very good. Obviously they've fixed things since it's a hugely popular phone, but compared to Sense and Stock, is it comparable, or even better at this point? Thanks for your time.

Im using alcatel one touch flash plus as a a wifi hotspot(source) but not detected

zenfone 5 bootlooping with bootloader and recovery not working
my zenfone 5 is having a strange problem.when i press the power button ,it just goes on bootloop with asus logo and a rotating circle.it stays like this forever.when i try to enter bootloader using "power+volume up" ,it wont respond to these buttons and just enters into bootloop.when i tried to enter recovery through "power+volume down",then the phone just switches off and then enters bootloop again.this all happened when i unrooted my mobile throug my pc.after that unroot ,it is just bootlooping forever.problem is bootloader and recovery not opening and mobile bootlooping forever. please help meeee:(:(:(:(

Cant enter recovery to flash ROM ..idk if bricked?
hi guys ..im new to this forum stuff so if im in wrong section im sorry lol.. ok.. so im not sure how to explain this, but i was flashing over my HTC ONE M9 and for some reason it bootlooped back to the bootloader after completion and i was flashing Android Revolution HD 20 .. and then i went to upgrade the TWRP to 3.0 and idk what happened but it failed and now i cant load into recovery mode or download mode.. it says 0PJAIMG missing.. it just says failed to boot into recovery and back to the bootloader and im not sure how to load back a stock ROM or any ROM for that matter.. :confused: :(

Android 5.0 and Wired Headset Problem.
Recently, I factory reset my SGS5 (900i) and returned to a stock Android 5.0 ROM.
Since then, I have noticed that whenever I plug a pair of Phillips wired headphones into the jack, I can't use the single button on the headset without soft booting the phone. I plug the headset in and choose the app I want to listen to audio through but the button doesn't respond. However, if I reboot my phone, I regain full functionality for a little while before the problem returns. The issue is not confined to a single set of headphones and the headphones work perfectly in other devices. I believe the issue is related to the Android OS.
I read that it might be an issue with Now cards so I disabled them and I thought I might have solved it. However the problem has persisted.

How to install a MM Custom ROM while on KITKAT? (International version)
Day 1, I got my phone I unlocked bootloader and rooted.
I created a backup and tried installing Android Revolution HD 53.1 and it worked, however my WiFi didn't work and boot times would be long, so I uninstalled it and went back to my backup I had made. I read that this happens because my current firmware 1.58.502.1 (4.4.2 KITKAT) is too low (incompatible) to download Android Revolution HD 53.1.
Recently I also bought the sunshine S-off method. So I am currently S-OFF.
ALSO worth noting while I have the international edition of HTC ON M8, I am using T-MOBILE
With S-OFF am I able to go directly to Android Revolution HD 53.1 (which is MM Custom Rom)? If not how do I make my devie compatible with this version?

Hi, my lg g3 is suddenly become "blue screen of death" one day while I was using my phone..everything I boot my phone, it will boot to just a blue screen and nothing else. .

Dark Spot Across Screen?
Does anyone else have a dark spot across their screen? It really only shows up on a gray or grayish background, but about midway down the screen, there's a band that seems to be a bit darker than the remainder of the screen. Kind of disappointing because AMOLED screens always used to have this issue for me, so I was hoping to escape that with this LCD screen. I'm just wondering if I should try to get it replaced or just keep it. Thanks!

Marshmallow SD card access, options?
Hi, so I've been searching with no solution. I'm on a CM13/Android 6.01 rom, SuperSU rooted and using Xposed. ExternalSD is a 128GB Samsung EVO+ and is setup as "portable storage" (Exfat). I am having SD card write access problems since the upgrade to Marshmallow. Titanium can't write to my external SD and then all my non-root apps can't get SD card permission, the most glaring is F-stop's option to allow SD card access in it settings (this is supposed to call the native picker so you can grant access to the SD card) crashes on press. Yet Solid explorer, Apps2SD and all my other root apps besides Titanium seem to have SD card access fine.
So what I am looking for is links/info links on any of the following:
1) Any Xposed/root app that bypasses the SD card restrictions for all apps. Recognized dev Defim is the only one I could fine that is still being maintained but it seems that it doesn't work on Marshmallow.
2) Instructions on how do I manually give external SD card write access to each app individually in CM13.
3) Reaching here but: What binary is used when the picker is called to give external SD card access to an app? I run Xprivacy but to be clear, I have disabled Xprivacy (unchecked the module in Xposed and rebooted) and still had the same problem, but I would like to observe the binary and see what permissions it is using to at least start to troubleshoot this.
4) Any other threads with other options for fixing Android external SD card permissions issues on Marshmallow?

Anyone else ever hit the pause or mute button with their cheek when starting a call?

N9 isn't recognized by Windows 7 pc
Hi, I'm new to the N9, have had the tablet about a week. I have tried connecting it to my windows 7 Pc and the N9 isn't recognized. I have tried all the basics, all drivers are current, set tablet to mtp, and not found. I have connected to a friend's Windows 10 PC and the N9 is found immediately. My N9 is a wifi only device, non rooted. I have 2 other Android devices that my W7 PC finds with no issue. Anyone else experience this, and or have any suggestions on how to fix this issue ? Not looking to root at this point. Any help and guidance would be greatly appreciated

Xposed modules not working
Xposed is loading modules from mnt/asec, not sure if that's the correct location but that's the only info I have. I have the following error saying file does not exist when the modules load. Any way to fix this? Sorry don't have much info. Thanks in advance 👍

I've been doing some poking around with Win10M on my 830 and want to enable VoLTE so that I can place VoLTE calls on T-Mobile.
I have an RM985 device, so I get access to T-mobile LTE, but don't have all AWS bands so in LTE only areas (Becoming more common) I cannot place calls.
I found Microsoft's documentation for VoLTE & IMS settings, but cannot figure out where in the registry these are. Can someone help me figure out where to write to so that I can toggle my VoLTE settings?

[Q] AcerOOBE and Shell on Acer Liquid Z200?
Hello, I was checking my phone with CCleaner and AVG and I found two unknown apps, one is called AcerOOBE [com.acer.android.oobe], I found it on the Disabled Apps on CCleaner but it doesn't appear in my settings. The other one is Shell [com.android.shell], and AVG tells me it's malware but it can't be deleted 'cause it's a system app (I rooted my device one hour ago), I'd like to know if Shell is really Malware becuase I saw in my settings that it has permission for everything, phone calls, SMS, status bar, etc.
Also I'd like to know what is OOBE, I looked over the internet but I found nothing, Idk if I should uninstall both apps, enable OOBE, keep Shell active, what should I do?

Headphone audio quality different ROMs and how can I make a ROM sound like another?
I would like to know how audio processing in Android works.
For the last three months I've tried out many different ROMs for the Xiaomi Mi 3. One of the most important aspects of a ROM for me is the headphone sound quality, since I use my device most for listening music on my Shure SE215's. I have noticed that there is a huge different in headphone sound between ROMs. MIUI kitkat sounds nothing like Cyanogenmod 12.1, which sounds nothing like Cyanogenmod 13.0, which sounds nothing like Mokee 6.0.1. In my opinion my headphones sound best with Mokee 6.0.1. No muddy lows or an unpleasant harsh sound, but a nicely balanced sound with especially the mids and highs sounding gorgeous and way better than CM13.0 which is my daily driver at the moment. What does a ROM do to an audio file before sending a direct signal to the earphone? Does the kernel play a role? I'm not interested in speaker sound, only headphones. And is it possible to export whatever makes Mokee 6.0.1 sound so good to Cyanogenmod 13.0?

Kernel settings that I recommend changing are, CPU Governor to Interactive, Go into CPU Hotplug and turn on IntelliPlug, and scroll down to the second option below IntelliPlug to Profile, Change that to Eco Conservative. But experiment to see what options work for you! Your watch should run with very low to no lag now!

In your TWRP folder in the phone memory create a " theme " (must be lower case) folder. Download the attached theme zip, rename it to ui.zip (lower case), put the renamed ui.zip in the theme folder. Reboot into TWRP......your new theme should show. The TWRP curtain can not be changed with a theme zip. The only way to change the curtain is to de-compile the TWRP recovery img and change the curtain in the images folder and re-compile. Enjoy!!

Invalid SIM card after wipe cache partition
So my phone is a carrier phone (SM-G925F) that is sim unlocked (I think it was using a code). I had rooted it a few days ago with cf-auto-root and had to do a wipe cache partition cause it was stuck in a bootloop. After this everything was fine, made sure it was rooted and backed up with Titanium. Today I was trying to set root access on ES File Explorer but it was giving error, reinstalled app and nothing. So I stupiditly thought that maybe I needed to clean chache partition, after all I had done it once and there was no problem. But this time, after rebooting it will say that SIM card is invalid (Network locked SIM card inserted) and asks for a unlock code. Can please someone help me? I've looked for similar errors but havent found any solution.

Software update HTC desire 626 download location
Hello I recently unrooted my HTC desire626s so update the firmware to 1.23.xxx and I hit install after downloading then when I boots up it goes to the cyanogenmod recovery screen so I go down to apply update and it asks through adb or select file. Since it was already downloaded I tried to find the file but I can't. Any idea where the firmware update file is at so I can update and reroot?

Device tree, and vendor files?
I'm trying to build AOSP from source, I've got my repo's setup just fine, but I'm unable to find the device tree or vendor files anywhere, or how to obtain anything. The only other thread I found had a single response saying to just build CM instead, which is exactly what I am trying to avoid. My main goal is to get Slim6 ported properly and that's all in AOSP base.

Hi there im having a problem with surround .while watching movies only getting 2 channle stereo or 5.1 all channel stereo anf vocal coming from all speakers .only propper sound when watching blurays .is there any way to fix it after rooting or flashing etc ?

I'm just wondering if there's any confirmed way to do this yet?
I've done some searching and read somewhere that Kingo will do it(Not too sure about that, if I do try that method, what's the risk of brick?)
There's also a method that requires adb, but it'll only boot successfully once.
I've also found a Russian forum that claims to have successfully rooted.. but I can't make sense of the instructions.

LG G4 goes black screen and freezes after taking pictures
Hello,
My LG G4 sometimes goes black screen just after taking a picture. It does not respond to any button press and if it is playing any music it just stops.
In order to turn it on again I have to remove the battery.
Is there any hardware issue related to this? Seems like I'm doomed to this, my former Nexus 4 used to do it also.

Caller ID options
I know this could be viewed as an app thread q, but still.
I liked my g3 as it could run roms that had baked in caller id. Besides the mr number style apps, and paying 3 a month for caller name id, what options are out there?

Question regarding kernel patcing/updates
I kind of feel as if this should be a very basic topic and that I should not be having to post a new thread on it... but, out of curiosity, does anyone know whether or not the Android kernel-- which as we all know is a flavour of the Linux kernel-- can be updated through "patching" as the regular Linux kernel can? The reason I am asking is that I greatly prefer to run my device with a custom kernel that has extra features over the stock kernel, however, it seems like every custom kernel that is released is released as a one-shot deal, and that the only way to have a kernel that continues to be updated with fresh source is to run the kernels that are provided with the nightly ROM builds.
Of course, I could go the route of learning how to build my own kernels and add features to them.. but I guess my basic question is, does there exist any form of "general patch" that is periodically released by Google, or the Linux Kernel foundation, etc., that will bring your current kernel up-to-date with the latest system-wide changes (secuturity & stability fixes, etc), while leaving the bulk of the kernel and the kernel configuration in place? Or is that a totally unrealistic and impractical concept? I do build my own kernels from source for my laptop, but I know very little about compiling a kernel for android.. anyway, if there are any kernel devs still on this device's forum, what do you guys think?

Temp Root Question
Sorry if this question does not belong here, I'm a noob. A few days ago I was trying some things with the sunshine free apk and after a few minutes I got a message that said "congratulations now you have temp root", then I installed TWRP through google play, rebooted into recovery and it worked. At that time I did not try to install a Custom Rom through this method because I wasn't sure about it, my question is Can I install a custom rom doing with this method? (like the google play edition sensified rom)

SM-G9208 TW Marshmallow (Wait or force flash SM-G920F firmware?)
I just purchased an S6 with Model #: SM-G9208, at first I thought it came from China and what not but it came out from TW because it has Google Play Store.
Will Samsung release the Marshmallow update for the device or is there any possible way that I can just flash the SM-G920F Firmware?

"Footer is wrong" error after updating to 5.0 - can't flash
I just decided to upgrade my Note 3 (N9005) from 4.4.2 to Lollipop - I was holding off until Xposed for TW seemed nice and stable - and used this guide to do it. The intention was to go up to 5.0 and then put on a custom 5.1 rom on with xposed.
Since putting 5.0 on, however, I appear to be able to flash almost nothing - everything comes up with the...
"Finding update package...

Installation aborted"
...error, then reboots. I tried changing from CWM to TWRP, and discovered that anything which uses the Aroma installer won't run either - it starts then quits back to TWRP. I tried a whole bunch of other update threads but ended up with a device that wouldn't boot.
At this point I decided to push the 5.0 ROM from Sammobile back on via Odin and try to start afresh. My device is currently working with 5.0 (and CWM) on it but I still cannot flash anything - with the one exception of arter97's kernel, which flashes fine!!!
I'm stumped. I've read various threads about the "Footer is wrong" error and am none the wiser. It cannot be the files, I've pulled a number of them numerous times (various machines too) and checked the hashes and they're all good, but I can't fined anything conclusive to give me a way forward.

How to enable two-way recording
Hello guys, new here :)
I do understand two-way recording is disabled in the factory setting.
Some apps offer two-way recording if I have my phone rooted.
The problem is some of my essential apps won't allow my phone rooted for security reasons.
The question is : is it possible to do this procedure?
1. Root
2. "enable" two way recording
3. Unroot
4. Now I can record my calls with any apps.
* Call recording is legal in my country, (South Korea) as long as I'm in the party. I'm a consultant, so I want to record calls to see if I've been doing the conversation in the right way. For good reasons! :P thank you in advance.

Ellipsis 7 No Android Os
Hello everyone,
Not sure if this is the right area to ask. If it's not my apologies. I am trying to fix an ellipsis 7. My cousin had it requesting a system update but he kept on postponing it. when he did decide to update it there was a glitch I assume and android was somehow wiped from the tablet. I have managed to get into factory mode but there is no way to do a factory reset. In factory mode all I see is reboot, auto test, manual test, item test, tet report, debug test, clear emmc, safe mode, and version. I have tried both clear emmc and safe mode, but nothing happens there. I have checked version and like I said it shows no android version on it which I assume means no android on the device. Is there some way of making a bootable sd card to get the software back on it?

Excess files in /
I have about 30 files at the bottom of my root directory that I think have accumulated over time and which I'm guessing are not all necessary. Anyone know how to tell what I can get rid of, or if they're all needed?
