Nokia 9 rumored to launch with a Snapdragon 845 and in-display fingerprint scanner

While we saw the launch of four separate devices by HMD Global/Nokia at Mobile World Congress, the company isn't stopping there. They're rumored to launch yet another device later this year according to NokiaPowerUser. The device is rumored to be the Nokia 9, the next big flagship for the company. It's said to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845, which is a step up from the Snapdragon 835 on the Nokia 8 Sirocco.

The rumors don't stop there. According to NokiaPowerUser, the device aims to feature a best-in-class camera, new design, and employ some new, innovative features to capture an even greater audience. We heard about the Nokia 8 Pro's "penta-lens" module before the device's launch, but apparently HMD Global is looking to top that again with the Nokia 9. The device is also said to house in-display fingerprint sensor along with the possibility of having a slightly larger screen at 5.7-inches (though NokiaPowerUser can't confirm this).

As for pricing and launch time, the company has the Nokia 9 slated to be announced somewhere around September 2018. As expected, the device will cost even more than its predecessors. It will likely cost the same price as the Samsung Galaxy S9+, which is roughly $840 depending on where you live, the carrier you're on, and the plan you take out when buying. It would be the most expensive phone yet from the HMD Global and Nokia if it is indeed sold at that price.

There's no telling how the device will look either, nor is there any information on the "innovative features" other than the in-display fingerprint sensor. Even then, it appears multiple devices are set to launch with the feature in 2018, including the recently announced Vivo Apex. We'll see what HMD Global has in store for the Nokia 9. Hopefully, it can justify its alleged high price tag.
