Reviews for the Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8+ have come and gone from the traditional Android publications that are around today. Most average customers will likely never visit one of these websites, but they certainly take notice when something is reviewed by Consumer Reports. We talked about our thoughts on the software of the Galaxy S8 just last month, but it looks like Consumer Reports loved the phones so much they were put right at the top of their Smartphone Ratings list.
Many will discredit what Consumer Reports thinks about the phones like many do with DxOMark's camera reviews. But you can't ignore the influence they have on what the average customer thinks about certain products. They loved the Galaxy S5, ranked the the Galaxy S6 lower than the S5, had the S7 and S7 Edge at the top of their charts, called Samsung out when they failed water resistance tests with the Galaxy S7 Active and even said the red tint issue of the Galaxy S8 was a real problem.
So it's clear that they're willing to both praise and criticize Samsung when they feel it's appropriate. However, just like their rankings of the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 Edge, Consumer Reports feels the Galaxy S8 phones are the best smartphones available right now. They rank the Galaxy S8+ higher, with the regular Galaxy S8 coming in right below it. They praise the camera quality, battery life, water resistance and the display that Samsung went with.
They do agree that the phones are pricey though, and that Bixby just isn't good enough to compete with Google Assistant. Still, until something better comes along, Consumer Reports feels that the latest Samsung flagships are the best smartphones you can buy right now. We all have different tastes when it comes to smartphones though, so you may or may not agree with their assessment.
